Infrastructure structures are constantly exposed to the elements – sun, wind, and rain – and are subject to daily traffic loads. Monitoring their structural health is crucial to ensure the safety and accessibility of our infrastructure.

Due to the high cost of nighttime road closures aimed at minimizing traffic disruption, deformation measurements are typically only carried out once every three years by surveying engineers.

DeltaIoT offers an intelligent solution: fixed GNSS monitoring points that provide reliable digital data on a daily basis. This avoids costly and disruptive campaigns, while giving asset managers continuous access to up-to-date information for informed and timely maintenance decisions.

Bridges

Although bridges are generally sturdy constructions and well-founded, both abutments can behave differently in relation to the rest of the bridge structure. Significant temperature variations (day & night and winter & summer) play a crucial role in the expansion of particularly steel bridges. The movement space at the bridge supports can be deformed to such an extent due to natural settlements combined with extreme temperature differences that accessibility and safety are compromised.

The first elaborated application involves the use of DeltaCube for measuring reference points in civil engineering and construction, such as for land, road, and waterway projects.

DeltaCube

The DeltaCube sensors are housed in a IP65 waterproof polyester casing about the size of half a football. Each DeltaCube is equipped with electronics, including a IoT communication module, a battery, and solar cells, making it fully self-sufficient and autonomous. On the underside, the DeltaCube features a LIDAR distance sensor for measuring absolute distances to the groundsurface. Additionally, it is fitted with a universal 5/8" thread survey adapter, ensuring compatibility with standardized survey accessories. DeltaIoT has also developed several extension adapters for enhanced mounting operability with other objects. Our DeltaCubes can be ordered individually, with or without the licenses, or as a complete set. The DeltaCube set includes a waterproof IP65 transport case for up to five DeltaCubes, along with an activation key and licenses. DeltaIoT has further developed the DeltaCube with respect to theft prevention and has equipped the DeltaCube as standard with: 1. Anti-theft eye: We offer an Anti-theft eye that allows the DeltaCube to be locked with a padlock to the reusable bag hook. This significantly complicates any attempt at theft. 2. GPS tracking system with geofencing feature: Each DeltaCube is equipped with an advanced GPS tracking system that includes a geofencing feature. In the event of theft, the new geographic location of the DeltaCube can be tracked. 3. Full liability in case of theft: DeltaIoT is willing to assume full liability in the event that a DeltaCube is stolen.
