Strong Markermeer Dikes
In 2019, Rijkswaterstaat, in collaboration with the Markermeer Dikes Alliance, began reinforcing the Markermeer dikes over a length of no less than 33 kilometers, from Hoorn to Amsterdam.
DeltaIoT measures soil subsidence using the innovative DeltaCube. This is done entirely remotely and automated. In July 2021, the first 50 DeltaCubes were deployed on the project.
Markermeer Dikes
Due to climate change, we are increasingly facing high water levels. Many dikes – including large sections of the Markermeer dikes in North Holland – no longer meet the current safety standards. The stability of the dikes is insufficient and in some places, they are not high enough.
